At any given moment, we’re processing an incredible amount of data in our minds. What to make for dinner, when to schedule that dentist appointment, the list of TED talks we need to watch. The best way to download all of that info is to grab pen and paper. But what happens when those Post-Its and torn notebook pages start to pile up and undermine any sense of organization? Fortunately, tools exist that allow us to move beyond the pen and paper to digital, like the Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate that make it easier to capture and share notes and ideas. Fans of these Bamboo smartpads will be happy to discover there are a number of compatible apps to enhance their note-taking experience so they can seamlessly sort, save and share lists, schedules, notes, drawings and more. Both the Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate work with leading apps such as Bamboo Paper, Evernote and OneNote as well as file-sharing programs such as Dropbox. Plus, with Bamboo Paper, ideas captured are automatically synced to Inkspace, the Wacom cloud solution, so there’s no need to save them manually.
For a rundown of how to make these apps work for your note-taking needs, read on below.
OneNote and Evernote
OneNote and Evernote are both popular note-taking apps that allows users to convert ideas, to-do lists and other notes into organized, easily accessible and sharable files. When paired with the Bamboo Folio or Bamboo Slate, users can export their handwritten notes into .pdf, .jpg or .png files into the OneNote or Evernote app so they can edit and collaborate with others. OneNote’s interface, considered a digital version of the three-ring binder, sorts files into pages, sections and notebooks. With Evernote, notes are organized through notebooks and searchable tags. Both are easy to use with your Bamboo smartpad: once the app is installed, just save your file and export it into your preferred format. Then open the app and you’re ready to start editing and more. These apps are the perfect solution for planning a group camping trip (who’s bringing the s’mores?), sharing a mind-map with colleagues (Estella, can you review?) or even sending a dog-walking matrix to your neighbor (don’t forget the bags!).
Dropbox is a file-sharing program where users can upload multiple documents or other files and organize them into folders for storage or sharing with others. The app allows you to access your content from any laptop, tablet, or smartphone and even directly through the Dropbox website. This storage site makes it simple to share your notes with others for seamless and secure collaboration. When pairing with your Bamboo Folio or Bamboo Slate, just save your notes in any supported file (.png, .jpg or .pdf) and export directly into the Dropbox app. From there, you can create different folders to sort your files and choose which ones to share with others. When you’re looking to share your notes with multiple people, such as a draft proposal or timeline that needs feedback from your entire team, Dropbox is a great option.
Inkspace is a cloud-storage app from Wacom that comes in a free and premium (Inkspace Plus) model that allows users to organize, edit, and share notes and sketches on your iOS or Android Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone or tablet. Both versions of Inkspace can be accessed from anywhere, so you can work now and sync later. With the Inkspace web portal, you can sync files across your smart devices and store up to 5GB of content. With Inkspace Plus, you get enhanced functionality such as the ability to convert handwritten notes into digital text and export drawings to .SVG files. The premium subscription is just $2.99 per month and you get the added bonus of extra storage space, up to 50GB. To access Inkspace from your Bamboo smartpad, just log in to your account (or create a new one) which takes you to your dashboard and from there you can choose which files you want to work on.
Whether your notes are insightful commentary, innovative plans or just a shopping list to share with your roommate, it’s important to get them out of your head and written down. Thought leader and entrepreneur Richard Branson attributes his copious note-taking to many of his creative breakthroughs. With tools like the Bamboo smartpad and a host of note-taking apps, there’s no reason you can’t organize your thoughts into notes that just may turn into something big!
